Red Hen lived on Bennie’s farm,
Quiet, cozy, safe from harm,
‘Till one day came a loud alarm:
The zoo had lost an elephant!

“This is dreadful!” Bennie said.
“Help me find him, Little Red!”
So ‘cross the countryside they sped
To find that errant elephant.

Through the forest, ‘round the lake,
‘Til their feet began to ache!
Then, in the meadow, no mistake –
Stood that errant elephant!

“Have some breakfast,” Bennie said.
“Here’s some water, here’s some bread!
You’ll feel better once you’re fed!”
“Oh, thank you!” cried the elephant.

On the journey home, what fun!
Playing tag and treasure hunt.
Through seven days of rain and sun
Danced Ben and Hen and Elephant.

Bennie telephoned the zoo:
“We’ve found your elephant for you!
But we’ve become such close friends, too –
We’d love to keep that elephant!”

The zoo men said, “That plan is fine!
Sign here on the dotted line!”
So, friends until the end of time
Are Ben and Hen and Elephant!

There they go – dancing in the sunset!
Ben and Hen and Elephant!
